Our Partnerships
The Northern Latitudes Partnerships (NLP) is comprised of three distinct, expansive regional partnerships. Though spread across hundreds of millions of acres, the partners are unified by common goals and are determined to bring people together to foster adaptation, stewardship, and sustainability across boundaries.
The priorities and work supported by the NLP are determined by Steering Committee members who guide the individual regional partnerships. Each regional partnership has core staff to coordinate and bring people together. Steering Committee members recognize each other as equals and value the neutral space created by each partnership where collaboration toward nonregulatory solutions is a key focus.
Our Mission
We collaborate across geographic and disciplinary boundaries to help decision makers understand and adapt to a rapidly changing North.
Our Vision
We envision a future where northern lands, waters, and ways of life are sustained for generations; by allowing stewardship and reciprocity to guide decisions, our communities in Alaska and western Canada can be resilient and thriving.
Our Values
We value environmental, cultural, and ecological stewardship that is grounded in community needs and informed by both science and Indigenous Knowledge. Collaboration and transparency are at the core of our work, and we strive to provide a safe and neutral discussion space for our partners.
We are stronger together in all aspects of our work. When we identify common needs, share resources, create balanced and inclusive decision-making processes, and respect the values and needs of communities so deeply connected to natural systems, we can effectively work together to achieve our common goals.
